We have a winner!

The winner this week is Russel Altizer. Congratulations!

Once again, we got the correct answer in less than 30 minutes, so you gotta be quick to win. Be advised that, for next time, we will give several warning orders prior to announcing the next trivia question, so keep an eye on our blog, facebook, and twitter pages for the heads up.

Some of you might have thought that last one was a trick question. Well no, the answer is two. Can you tell that I've been reading a lot about the Battle of Mogadishu lately?

Thanks for playing! Better luck next time.

Answer the question and WIN!

The first person* to respond to the following question with the correct answer wins this incredibly awesome Multicam T-Shirt from Tru-Spec!
You must send your answer in an email, along with your shipping address (and T-shirt size), to sales@darkthreads.com. Please do not post your answer here, and please, only one answer per person. Thanks.

Here you go:

How many Navy Seals were wounded in the Battle of Mogadishu?

Good luck!

*DarkThreads and MGP associates are not eligible to win. Sry guys. Also, if you won last week, you are not eligible to win this week's prize. We gotta spread the love around.

Pick of the Day: Maxpedition Monsoon Gearslinger

The Maxpedition Monsoon Gearslinger is a really clever, lightweight, sling bag, with about 1600 cu. in. capacity, and padded back and shoulder strap. It's also hydration compatible.

See more photos and color options on the product page.

This is a great option for an EDC bag, a small bugout bag, or day hiking bag. The sling style makes it easy to quickly get to your stuff.

This great video review says it all:

...and we have a winner!

Thanks, everyone who responded! We are surprised that we have a winner so quickly. The answer may surprise you.

Congratulations go to Dave Kreiseder for being the first person to respond with the correct answer.

...and the answer we were looking for is:

"Gothic Serpent"

That was the name of the specific operation for which "Irene" was the go word.

Thanks for playing! And don't worry, we will do this again. We have lots of great prizes, so stay tuned for more.

Answer the question and WIN!

The first person* to answer the following question correctly wins a brand new Woolrich Elite Operator Cap.
DO NOT post your answer here!
Send your answer in an Email to sales@darkthreads.com, and include your shipping address.

Now here's your question:
"Irene" was the go word for what US operation?

Good luck!

Just Added: Tacatec Apparel

The Tacatec Tactical Tiger pattern was developed for global special forces and law enforcement to blend in with urban environments, and it's the latest and most effective tactical clothing we've seen.

Not only is the tiger pattern effective, but the shirt is comfortable and loaded with high-speed features, such as large hidden zippered pockets, pen stalls, and a mesh back vent. The sleeves have tabs that you can use to hold rolled up sleeves in place, adding to its versatile design, without compromising features or quality. See more details here.

The pants are also really comfortable and well-made. All the high stress points are bar-tacked (reinforced). The waistband is adjustable and has wide belt loops. Another thing that makes these pants stand out is the drag handle on the rear. See more details here.

We have these items in stock now. For more info and to order, please contact sales@darkthreads.com. Remember, we offer discounts on group orders for teams and departments!

Pick of the Day: Woolrich Operator Cap and Boonie

Added lots of stuff to the Web store in the last few days, and have been trying to decide on a "pick of the week," but there are so many options. So, I'll post about several of the items that caught my eye this week, starting with:

Woolrich Elite Operator Cap and Boonie. I have dozens of different covers, many different brands and styles, but I end up wearing only a few "favorite" ones all the time. The Woolrich covers are on my short list. Both the cap and boonie are well-made and comfortable, and look like they'll only get better with age. Available now in our newly redesigned Web store!

I added a site search field to the Shop page, so now you can search for whatever you want on our site quickly and easily! (I hope.) Please feel free to check it out and let me know what you think.

Updates

Doing a full update of the Web site and hope to be back up and running shortly. I hope you like the new look! ;-)

Just Added: Pantac USA

We are getting Pantac orders in on a regular basis now, and I've started adding the products to the Web store. I started with the bags, because, well I'm addicted to bags, but also because they've got some really good designs and excellent but very affordable quality.

Hydration Backpack for Recon Vest:
Whether you plan on wearing this hydration backpack with the Recon Vest or not, it's great all by itself. Plenty of room for a 100 oz. bladder, and some other essentials.

BBP-MS Backpack, Warthog Backpack, and Tac Attack Backpack:
A different backpack to suit every purpose: The BBP-MS has a huge main compartment and rows and rows of MOLLE webbing. The Warthog is a more low-profile bag with an interesting feature - zipper access through the small compartment to the bottom of the main compartment. The Tac Attack is just a monster of a bag, packed with features. There are several other styles of backpacks that you can check out in the Web store.

Low Profile Courier bag, and Waistpack.

I would dare say that many products are every bit as good or better than their much more expensive competitors'. Pantac products are made of heavy duty, abrasion and water resistance Cordura nylon fabric, military spec nylon webbing, YKK zippers, ITW Nexus and UTX buckles, and heavy-duty milspec thread. Tthey even have some nice features that I don't see anywhere else. For example, some of the bags have a seat-belt style strap - very strong, comfortable and flexible for carrying around all day. The zipper pulls are also made of cobra-braided paracord, and not just a simple knot.

If there's anything you are interested in that's not up in the Web store yet, please contact sales@darkthreads.com, because we carry the full line. We've also personally handled these products and can answer your questions about them.

Photos: AirsoftCon 2010, West Virginia Penitentiary

Check out my photos from AirsoftCon:

It was well worth the drive to West Virginia Penitentiary to attend this event. The venue is the former state penitentiary, but it is now converted into a law enforcement and corrections training and meeting facility. There were vendors, classes, pickup games held inside the old prison, and many opportunities to hang out and chat with fellow airsofters. I hope this becomes an annual event.

Attn: people with fancy phones

This is actually a link to our Web store! Just aim a barcode scanner at it, and there you go! If you have one of those newfangled phones, you can download a program from scanlife.com (and other places) that scans barcodes.

In other news, since I got a new phone (that can scan barcodes), I've been working on making a cool case for it, because its bigger than most phone cases can handle. I've been experimenting with the materials I have on hand: milspec fabric, webbing, hook and loop, buckles and so on. Will post photos when I come up with a winning design.

DarkThreads Designs: USN Camo Kilt

USN Camo Kilt USN Camo Kilt

Finished. This is what some call an "American"-style kilt, because it's not made of Tartan, but rather of a more utilitarian fabric, in this case USN digital camo twill. It features two attached, hanging cargo pockets, extra-wide belt loops, and a d-ring key keeper. The pleats are sewn in, so it's wash and wear. I'm happy with how it turned out. I just hope it fits the client.
