Are you ready for Wasteland?

Here is a really quick summary - The "cliff notes" version - of the uniform requirements for each faction. We're only two weeks out now, so if you need anything for the event, better contact us pronto! sales@darkthreads.com

Brotherhood of Steel Uniform - MultiCam, armor is encouraged! Ok, I know a full metal suit of armor might be hard to come by, but I encourage you to be creative with spray paint or duck tape.

Talon Company Uniform - Black. May we suggest: TRU Top and bottom, or Combat Shirt.

Wastelanders, Raiders, Slavers Uniform - punk, mixed civilian, and paramilitary. Please no matching uniform top/bottom - punk it out! May we suggest: mixing different tops and bottoms, camo T-shirts, covers, shemaghs.

You might also want to be creative with your weapons and accessories. Think, "Mad Max."

Enclave Uniform - MARPAT top and bottom.

DON'T FORGET FACE PROTECTION OR EYEWEAR! A full-seal goggle or face mask is required for this event. Check out our full line of Revision, WileyX, and Save Phace products.

Also, don't forget to bring one or more of the following for your starter weapons: boffer weapons, gas pistols, springer shotguns, pistols and rifles. May we suggest: rubber training knives for those close-quarters melee kills.

Players may physically enter the field with advanced weapons or AEGs, but must keep them slung until an upgrade is purchased from a merchant or "built" by a gunsmith. The "currency" in Wasteland is bottle caps, which you get by finding and selling pre-war artifacts.

To encourage players dressing the part, players showing up in excellent costumes will be awarded a starting bottle cap bonus before the game begins.

Other useful items to bring:

A large empty pouch or backpack to carry collected artifacts.
Food and water (it's a 24-hour game).
Comfortable footwear.
Bedroll/camping gear to bivouac for the night.
First-aid/med kit.

[Featured Product] Eyewear: Revision Sawfly

Still recovering from our recent travels and everything else that's going on, but I've been meaning get back to blogging about our stuff!

I am becoming of the belief that you can't have too many pairs of protective glasses, especially when you do the sorts of activities that we do all the time. So I tried out yet another cool pair of specs from Revision - The Sawfly.
rev-SawflyPic11
They might look like just another pair of shooters, but they are much much more. It's a military eyewear system, with interchangeable lenses, and the ability to withstand a shotgun blast at 16 feet.
rev-Sawfly-SidePic1
They come in two sizes - regular, which is the typical size - and large, so if you have trouble finding a good pair of specs to fit, this might be your answer. The arms also adjust to fit. And, they are Rx compatible. The set comes with two lenses, strap, bag, case, and cleaning cloth.

I wore this around at DragonCon, and as with other Revision products I've tested, the sawfly's are super-comfortable. We have them, and many other fine products in stock, so please stop by our site if you haven't in a while. (I also fixed a bunch of stuff, and even lowered some prices;-)
Also pictured here - riot shield from Dark Victory Armory - surprisingly light-weight shield designed for milsim/tacsim. For more info, contact sales@darkthreads.com

The Wasteland is an engaging alternate reality event based on the FallOut computer games, most specifically FallOut3 by Bethesda Softworks. The setting is a section of the "capitol wasteland", an area around the ruins of Washington DC, two hundred years after a devastating nuclear war.

The Wasteland's world is not quite our own. It is an alternate reality which diverged from ours at some point after the second World War. The base concept for the setting is the World of Tomorrow as imagined in the Golden Age of Science Fiction. This means that before the Great War, the world was more or less what the people of the 1940s and 1950s thought things would be like in 2077. The most important event in the setting was the Great War which happened on October 23, 2077. It lasted a mere two hours, but was unbelievably destructive and changed the world for centuries to come.

Our game begins in the Capitol Wasteland of 2278. The wastelands dangerous and hostile, inhabited by savage wasteland raiders and feared slavers. The tough and violent supermutants are a threat near many ruined areas and the wastelands are also home to the radition ravaged ghouls and even less friendly life forms. The Brotherhood of Steel and the Enclave are two organizations with advanced pre and post-war technology, looking to save ancient knowledge or bring the wasteland under their leadership. The ruthless mercenaries of Talon Company and the bravery of proud Wastelanders may be encountered in ones travels between settlements struggling to survive in the radioactive ruins.

Within the wasteland, fame, fortune and relics of ancient technology await! Welcome to the Capitol Wastes!

Factions and Uniforms
(Download the Players Pack for more information!)

Mindgame Productions wants to create a unique atmosphere and dynamic for The Wasteland. Ensure you and your teammates are in the correct uniform. Several factions have a maximum capacity of players. Be sure you register and pay in advance to secure your place in a specific faction. Day of play walk-ins who are in the wrong uniform or hope to join a faction that is at capacity will be given directions to the nearest surplus store, Wal-Mart or Goodwill so you can obtain items for a Wastelander uniform. SMALLER FACTIONS - REGISTER IN ADVANCE and follow our uniform guidelines. More suggestions for dressing for The Wasteland are included later in the Survival Guide.

Brotherhood of Steel
A high-tech order of wasteland knights, its headquarters is the Citadel, built into and beneath the ruins of the Pentagon in what used to be Washington, DC. It is one of the most important and influential factions in the Capital Wasteland. Their focus is to recover and safeguard pre-war knowledge and technology. The Capital Wasteland brothers have also dedicated themselves to combating the super mutant plague in the Capital Wastes. Faction limited to approximately 25 players!
Uniform – Multicam. If "power armor" is built, it should be silver/steel in color and may have any color uniform underneath provided at least 50% of body is covered by armor.

Talon Company
Talon Company is a mercenary organization active in the Capital Wasteland. Even as far as mercenaries go, these men and women are vicious. They are known to take mercenary contracts with few moral compunctions about who they are hired to kill. Faction limited to approximately 25 players!
Uniform – Black

Wastelanders
These are the ragged survivors living within the Wastelands. Some Wastelanders are fundamentally good folk, if a bit hardened by the realities of the Capital Wastes. Some manage to survive by dirt farming, trade or their wits alone. Others form informal militias to help defend their villages and homesteads, others may hire themselves out as guards for travelling merchants or simply wander the wastes in search of fortune.
Uniforms – Wasteland Punk, Mixed Civilian and Paramilitary. No full uniforms! Punk it out!

Raiders
A particularly anti-social classes of Wastelanders, Raiders have formed gangs who pillage, plunder, murder, or otherwise ruin the day of anyone unfortunate enough to not be one of them. Raiders tend to organize into loose confederations of gangs in the post-apocalyptic wasteland and are a constant problem, because it's much easier for them to just shoot people for their money, food, and other valuables than to earn a living. Raiders typically prey upon travelers and very small towns. To identify themselves, most raider gangs have adopted some sort of recognition feature such as a colored strip of cloth as an arm or headband. Others may all wear hockey masks, color their hair blue or have some other identifiable feature differentiating them from regular Wastelanders.
Uniforms – Wasteland Punk, Mixed Civilian and Paramilitary. No full uniforms! Punk it out! If you and your buddies plan to run a gang of raiders, decide on your own recognition item.

Slavers
Slavery is a lucrative business in the Wasteland. Although many larger pockets of civilization have outlawed slavery, smaller dictators allow the purchase and sale of human beings. Slavers do not discriminate between people based upon their race or ideology--anyone who can be easily cowed into submission, captured, and fitted with a slave collar is perfectly acceptable "meat" for them to use. They are generally identified by the savage face-paint of their Slaver gang. Faction limited to approximately 25 players!
Uniform – Face-Paint, Wasteland Punk, Mixed Civilian and Paramilitary. No full uniforms! Punk it out!

Enclave
The Enclave is a militaristic, right-wing organization, directly descended from the pre-War United States government and military industrial complex that claims to still have authority over the ravaged country. It is composed mostly of the descendants of government officials and military officers. The Enclave takes pride in being one of the last bastions of pure strain humanity left, aside from the unopened Vaults. They generally consider most people born outside the Enclave to be mutants fit only for eradication. Faction limited to approximatey 25 players!
Uniform - MARPAT. If "power armor" is built, it should be black in color and may have any color uniform underneath provided at least 50% of body is covered by armor.
